The 40th anniversary of the Detroit Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists was an UNFORGETTABLE celebration by way of a Roast of Detroit’s Dean of Journalism Chuck Stokes.
The Motor City Casino’s Soundboard Conference Center sparkled with lots of Motor City Media folks looking GORGEOUS in their finest attire beaming with pride and joy. To BOAST and ROAST both the Detroit NABJ and Chuck Stokes was apropos as a means of showing heartfelt appreciation in more ways than one.
Also, what do Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, The Temptations, Kem and Lucky Daye all have in common? PAUL RISER.
Although you should know his name, you just may not.
But, you will know his signature sound which has PROFOUNDLY made its mark on numerous hits because of his AWESOME ARRANGEMENTS with the majority of them becoming R&B/Pop classics.
What an HONOR it was for the television show: “PULSEBEAT WITH GREG DUNMORE” to have spotlighted the DC-NABJ 40th Anniversary Celebration/Chuck Stokes Roast in all of its MAGNIFICENCE & MERRIMENT as well as to have witnessed Paul Riser’s 80 years FABULOUS Surprise Birthday Bash held at Detroit’s Tech Town.
